The word Homoeopathy means similar disease or like suffering and exemplifies one of its basic principles: The Law of Similars or Like Cures Like. This principle states that if a substance is capable of causing symptoms, it is also capable of relieving those symptoms when it is prepared in the form of a Homoeopathic medicine. A common example is the remedy Allium Cepa, which is made from the onion. We all know what happens to us when we peel an onion: stinging, burning, watery eyes and a runny nose.
